Fringe and Festival nights, with a bed next door

From 26 February to 14 March 2027 the Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide Festival run side by side. Here is how we would plan that fortnight from a hotel on Festival Drive.

There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes from a festival week done well: three shows a day, dinners squeezed between them, a late walk home under the trees. The trick is to make the logistics disappear, and the reason we like Eos for this fortnight is that the logistics mostly do.

Start with the dates, not the hotel

The 2027 Fringe opens on 19 February and closes on 21 March. The Adelaide Festival opens on 26 February — a handful of its shows begin a little earlier — and closes on 14 March. WOMADelaide lands in Botanic Park from 5 to 8 March. If you want one week that catches all three, the stretch from the first to the second weekend of March is the obvious choice, and also the busiest. If you would rather have the Fringe at a gentler pace, the last week of February before the Festival opens, or the final week of the Fringe after 14 March, gives you the same city with fewer people trying to book the same tables.

Book shows first, then everything else

The Festival announced its 2027 programme in late October: 54 events over 17 days, with world and Australian premieres. Popular shows sell out, and their times decide your days. Once you have tickets, work backwards. The precinct’s restaurants list pre-theatre and pre-show menus — Madame Hanoi and iTL call theirs pre-theatre dining, The Kitchen calls its pre-show dining — which tells you they expect people to eat and leave on time.

Early show

Pizza and a negroni at iTL on Festival Plaza, then a few steps to the Festival Centre.

Late show

Dinner first at The Kitchen or Madame Hanoi; both list Friday and Saturday dinner until 9.30pm.

Two shows

A long lunch at Huami if it is a weekend, a swim on the Leisure Deck, then the evening programme.

The walk home is the point

Most of what makes a festival week tiring is getting between places. From Eos, the Festival Centre is beside you on Festival Drive, North Terrace is up Station Road, and the river path runs below the building. On a night when your last show ends near midnight elsewhere in the city, you are walking back through the city rather than queueing for a car. Trams are free in the CBD, which helps on the way out to the far end of North Terrace.

Which room for a festival fortnight

For a short visit, any Allure room will do. For a week or more, we would spend the extra on a suite with a separate lounge, because you will want somewhere to sit with the programme spread across a table. The Oasis suite’s four-seat table is enough for two; the Radiance River View suite’s six-seat table suits friends who meet for a drink before heading out. Ask for a river-side room if you like a view at breakfast, a city-and-hills room if you would rather have morning light and a quieter outlook.

Rates and the fine print

Every hotel in the city prices these weeks at their highest, and Eos is no exception. Two things matter. First, the hotel’s packages carry blackout or close-out dates, and festival weekends are the natural candidates. Second, the hotel’s terms say pre-paid and advance purchase bookings cannot be changed or refunded, while flexible bookings can be cancelled without a fee until 3pm on the day before arrival. If your show tickets are not yet confirmed, a flexible rate is worth the difference.

Looking after yourself

A festival week rewards a routine. The Leisure Deck opens at 5am and closes at 10pm; a swim at seven sets up a long day. The gym is open around the clock. BODHI Spa is open from 10am to 6pm daily except public holidays — on a day without matinees, a late-afternoon treatment is a reset. And the poolside menu means lunch does not have to be another queue.

When you know your dates, send them to us with the form below and tell us which shows you are booked for. If you have a closing-night show, ask for a late check-out in the same request.

Ask our desk to hold a room at Eos

Tell us your dates and the room you have in mind. Our booking desk checks availability and the current rate with the hotel or its booking partner and replies by email. We never ask for card details, and a request is not a booking until you accept the confirmed offer. We are paid a commission by the hotel or booking partner only when a request turns into a confirmed stay — how that works.

Thank you — the request is with our desk. Expect an email reply; nothing is booked or charged until you accept an offer.
