SOL Rooftop: small plates and the long Adelaide evening
Level 9, cocktails and wine, seasonal small plates and a view over the city. SOL is the bar every Eos room page lists among guest privileges, and the place we would book first.

The venue describes itself as “perched high above Adelaide on level nine” and as the city’s premier rooftop destination. That is the venue talking, but the basics are not in dispute: SOL serves small plates, premium wines and spirits and cocktails, inside and out, from the afternoon until late on weekends. When Eos opened in December 2020, SkyCity opened SOL on the same day.

If your stay falls on a Monday or Tuesday, plan your rooftop evening for another night or choose Westward by the river instead.
What to expect at the table
Small plates
The venue’s own phrase is “small plates for big nights”, built on seasonal produce. Order a few to share rather than mains.
The wine list
SOL received a three-glass rating at the Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards 2024, so the list deserves more attention than a quick spritz.
Book ahead
The venue says bookings are strongly recommended. On a Friday or Saturday in festival season we would not walk up without one.
Regular sessions the venue lists
SOL’s page links several recurring and seasonal offers: Golden Hour, Bottomless Booths, Bottomless Brunch, a SOL Christmas Lunch and a Melbourne Cup After Party. We do not reprint their prices or conditions because they change; read them on the venue page before you book, and if you are coming for the Christmas lunch, ask early.
Our way to use it
Adelaide’s summer evenings are long. In February and March, during the Fringe and the Adelaide Festival, a Saturday table at SOL in the late afternoon lets you watch the light change over the city before you walk down to a show. On a cooler night the inside room works as well. For an anniversary, combine it with one of the river-view suites and the hotel’s in-room Champagne or flowers through a package, then end the evening upstairs.
We also like SOL as a meeting point on match days: it is in the building, it is easy to find, and it gives a crowd somewhere to gather that is not the Oval forecourt. Check that the hours suit the fixture — SOL’s weekday hours start at 2pm and it is not listed as open early in the week.
Getting up there
SOL is on Level 9 of SkyCity Adelaide. Hotel guests reach it from inside the building; the venue page carries a map, and staff at the Eos concourse can point you to the lifts. Dress for a bar rather than a beach: the hotel encourages smart casual at all times during a stay.
