Across the footbridge
Match nights: from Eos to Adelaide Oval
Adelaide Oval sits on the north bank of the Torrens, across the Riverbank footbridge. SkyCity even opens a special Game Day Entrance through the railway station tunnel for every AFL game.

For a lot of our readers, the Oval is the reason for the trip: a Crows or Power home game, a Test match in December, a big concert. From Eos it is a walk across the river, and both SkyCity and the Oval publish enough detail to plan it properly.
The walk
Adelaide Oval says it is located 400 metres from the CBD and that Adelaide Railway Station, on North Terrace, is about a five-minute walk away across the Riverbank footbridge or via King William Street. The railway station shares the SkyCity building with Eos. On the hotel side, the walking route described by Eos runs from North Terrace down Station Road to the main SkyCity entrance and the lifts to the hotel concourse. The hotel also notes that entering the railway station from the Riverbank Pedestrian Bridge needs an access card, so on your first trip follow the signs or ask the concierge for the route that suits your room.

The Game Day Entrance
SkyCity’s plan-your-visit page lists three ways into the complex: the Festival Plaza entrance on the east side, the North Terrace entrance for the tram and Rundle Mall, and a Game Day Entrance reached through the Railway Station tunnel. The Game Day Entrance is open from two hours before until two hours after every Adelaide Oval AFL game. For anyone coming back from a night game, that is the shortest way home.
Before and after the game
Westward
SkyCity’s riverbank bar looks across the Torrens towards the Oval and opens on game days and major events. The bar suggests checking its hours against your event time.
The Guardsman
In the railway station on North Terrace, with “pre and post game” opening on game days listed on its page.
The District
A sports bar with a big screen on Level 1, for the game you are not at, and a brewery on site.

Transport if you are not staying close
If friends are coming from the suburbs, the Oval points out that for most major events Adelaide Oval Express Services run across train, tram and bus routes, and travel is free with a valid event ticket. Taxi ranks and drop-off zones on event days are on Pennington Terrace and King William Road. On non-event days, Wilson Parking runs two car parks at the Oval; on event days parking is specific to each event.
On a day without a game
The Oval is worth the walk on a quiet day too. It runs stadium tours, a RoofClimb, and the Bradman Collection, which the Oval says is free to view from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 4pm. Combine it with a morning on the river path and lunch back at iTL.
Which room for an Oval stay
The river side of Eos faces the Oval across the water. The Allure River View rooms, the north-facing Radiance River View suites and the Grace Villa are the categories the hotel describes with river outlooks; see our view guide. For a Test match, pick a flexible rate if you can: five-day matches sometimes finish early, and the hotel’s terms allow cancellation without a fee only up to 3pm the day before arrival, and only on rates that are not pre-paid.
